Dropping a link somewhere doesn’t end at it. That especially holds true with web 2.0 properties, articles directories, videos, etc. Getting a link from a page on a sites, as big as it is, holds very little value as far as SEO. To get more value out of these links, you have to promote them.
In other words, link to those page where you get the links from. Web 2.0 properties, article directories and others are called parasite hosts because the content you post on them is your property even though you don’t own the whole site. However more often than not, that property is isolated from the rest of the site (or the internal links are buried deep).
Promoting the promoters brings up the content hosted on parasite hosting to the light and gives you much more SEO value than just dropping them on an obscure page.
