Did you know that you can get hundreds or even thousands of links almost instantly by buying expired domains? This is a little known technique, by some it is considered “grey hat”.
Personally, I don’t consider it “grey hat”, on the contrary, I think it’s one of the purest white hat techniques in SEO. Of course, it depends how you go about it.
First of all, links will only do any good to you if the expired domain is closely related to the topic of your website. Irrelevant links would be useless.
And to stay completely on the white hat side, as well as get the most benefit (links and traffic) you should recreate the content that those old links used to point to, and redirect them to specific pages giving the visitors exactly what they expect. Not only that is a legitimate way to get links and traffic, it’s also a way to literally fix the web and give value where its wanted.
